28 weeks!

Ahh comparison is a recipe for disaster but it's impossible not to. So here you have it.... 7 months along while pregnant with Logan and 7 months along with now baby Reagan. Again, I was able to pull out the same outfit for the most best comparison ;) (mrrr...I miss my light hair - already planning the Holy Cow I'm going to be a mother of 2 makeover extravaganza sometime in April)

Baby Girl Reagan

Baby Boy Logan

Lets see.... I feel about 500 million times bigger than this picture makes it look. My lungs and stomach are beginning to be squished - but I keep eating like a champ. For the most part I'm uncomfortable when I sleep & this little lady likes to move a lot while I'm sleeping ....hope that doesn't mean she's one of those babies that has her mornings and nights all mixed up :o

I had my 28 week doctors appt on Friday - baby has a good heartbeat and is growing according to schedule. I've gained somewhere between 10-15lbs (depends on if you weigh me first thing in the morning or just before bed after I've had my sweet tooth fix). My blood platelet (blood clotters) count is lower than normal - nothing to be concerned about doc says but they will draw my blood again to make sure it doesn't continue to get lower. If they get too low and I were to go into labor I may not be able to get that epidural I've been wanting to try (gasp!) Other than that - we begin the third 'mester people!!!! The beginning of the end is upon us.

Can't forget about the other baby though! Logan is 13 months old now :) Looks like Mommy isn't the only one gettin big around these parts.

It Was Time

You might remember Logan's "hair" when he was a few months old. The poor guy had nothing but a little patch on the back of his head. As predicted, that patch soon turned into a mullet. The rest of his hair slowly started filling in but hasn't kept up with his maturing mullet. I made several attempts to convince Erin it was time for Logan's first hair cut. She was worried that I'd give him a buzz cut like mine, so she kept putting it off. She recently started inquiring around about childrens haircuts, but they were either too expensive or she thought Logan wouldn't sit very well in the chair. It took two different random people in the same day to say "Oh what a beautiful little girl" for her to finally agree to let me give Logan a haircut. Thank you random people!!! I let her start out trying to use a comb and scissors. Within 5 minutes Dad had the clippers out and chopped that scary mullet off : ) Looking good Logan, looking good.

A little project for the baby

the baby girl that is.

We bought this mirror a year ago from my favorite store, Craigslist, for $10. It use to have residence in the old guest room but it no long goes - so for the last couple months she has been leaning against furniture looking for a home.

The mirror in the old guest room

Gettin ready for her makeover

Today while Logan napped I cleaned, sanded, spray primed and spray painted it white. And it's new home will be on a wall in Reagan's room :)

Another successful swim class! Smiles on the ride there, smiles in the pool and smiles after. And because small miracles do happen he slept the entire way home without a peep :)

We have continued the goodness of the day and took advantage of the nice weather with a walk (43 with sun is considered nice in CT)
happy days.

27 weeks!

A momentous weekend for all the Hawks was had. Almost 13months into the parenting mix We got our first babysitter!! A real, pay by the hour babysitter. We met her a couple weekends ago and ask her to come over this Saturday. But instead of getting in our good and fancies and going out on the town we got in our old and uglies and painted. We painted from 9:30am-3pm & then Kevin finished up after the babysitter left until 5pm. We got lots painted, including the nursery :)

We don't have too much more painting to do but when all is said and done we will have painted every wall, every baseboard, every piece of trim and every door in our 2,300+ sq. foot house - and thats not one coat of paint, that's 2 folks.

Thats my belly in the picture above. I'm teaching Reagan how to supervise ;)

Update on my purchases

For anyone thats interested:

Earrings from Banana Republic: I'm returning. I loooooove them but I would looooooooove them even more if they were just a wee bit smaller - hard to believe but these ears can only handle so much bling.

Ergo Baby Carrier: I'm returning. Ugh. With all the rave reviews I had high hopes for this thing, but it's just not for us. I really wanted to be able to carry Logan on my back which this carrier allows but Logan sits sooo low on my back - he can't see above my shoulders which he likes. It is an extremely comfortable carrier for both baby and parent but I want Logan to be able to see the world. Once the refund goes through I'll be purchasing the Kelty 2.0 TC

Sophie: Logan hasn't chewed on it yet but he definitely likes to hit her on things and listen to her squeak. It's a keeper :)

Bio Oil: Love it. Knew I would.

YAY for birthday $$$

Thank you everyone that sent money or gift cards for my birthday. I was able to purchase several things that I've been eyeballing for awhile but haven't had enough leftover grocery money to buy:

1. Vintage cubic zirconia earrings from Banana Republic - Definitely didn't need these but they will help make me feel pretty - so I wanted them :)

2. Sophie the Giraffe - OK so this isn't directly for me but if over a thousand people on Amazon give it 4.5/5 stars for making their teething babies happy, I'm game.
3. Ergo Sport Baby Carrier - I'm pumped to get this! I've been looking at soft shell baby carriers for awhile. Logan is too big for the bjorn these days and I desperately want to carry him on my back without breaking out the big hiking backpack. I was debating between this one and the Oh Snap Babyhawk carrier.....price and personal recommendations made me pick this one. Should arrive Friday :)

4. Bio Oil - Notsocheap oil that I love. I used it all through Logans pregnancy and while I can't say that it was the sole reason I didn't get stretch marks, I didn't. Smells awesome & isn't greasy, I even use it on my face from time to time ?!
YAY!

26 weeks!

It's my birthday and I should have known better than to take pictures of my belly today - but too late now.

So much bigger than I was at 26 weeks with Logan. eh.

She's a little mover & loves when I eat....hmmmm, perhaps thats the problem. My last monthly appointment is at the end of the month then we move up to appointments every 2 weeks...must mean we're getting kinda close. We have one more ultrasound schedule for the beginning of March - a follow up level 2 ultrasound & then next time we see her she'll be sippin the fresh air of the world :o

We celebrated my birthday on Friday with a dinner out with a few friends and then Saturday we continued celebrating with all day shopping at Ikea :) After the baby went to bed, Kevin cooked me dinner and I opened my gifts and sipped on a glass of vino. I got a new netbook (whoopwhoop!!) and a label maker ....yessssssss! from my loves. It was a dream day :) If 29 brought me all that wonderfullness - bring on 30!

Smiles for big bellies and birthdays :)

Yesterday

Nothin like cramming in all our most fun activities in one day....

We FINALLLLLY had our first baby & me swim class!!! The last 3 have been canceled due to weather and the first one Logan was sick for. We were definitely excited to put on our suits and hop in. I tried to snap a quick picture of Logan before we went into the pool but I was rushing to get both of us suited up in time for the class - so it's not the best picture. He didn't love it but didn't cry so I chalk it up to a success and by the end of the class he finally figured out how to "jump" off the ledge into Mommys arms :)

We went straight from swim to the Johnsons house so Logan could play with his girlfriend, Madelyn :)

And lastly we wrapped up the night at Hot Rods to have dinner with Steve who stopped into town for a work trip.

And then the baby cried alllllll the way home.

On the up & up

On a scale of 1-11, 11 being the most awesome & 1 being the exact opposite this past week and change Logan has been settling in right around 4.

I feel bad for him I really do - in the last 10 days he:
  • Had and recovered from the same stomach bug that wiped out his entire 1st Birthday Party
  • Has had two teeth break skin (one top molar & one bottom front). But all his back molars are swollen
  • Has had a nasty flair up of his reflux
  • Hasn't slept through the night
  • Endured two shots at the docs

But I also feel bad for me - in the last 10 days I:
  • Had & recovered from the same stomach bug that everyone got and that Kevin is still recovering from
  • Took care of my 2 loves while they were sick
  • Had to shovel the driveway, again
  • Was snowed in most of last week with a screaming baby
  • Cried with Logan, multiple times
  • Haven't slept through the night
  • Have been generally gray & debbie downer'ish

Yesterday & today brought a glimmer of hope that our happy baby & happy mama might be returning: Logan made it back up on the scale at an 7, the sun shined bright, temperatures got above freezing & I didn't cry.....yet :)

12 months!

Continuing to follow the tall & skinny route, the numbers:

20lbs 30z - 12th percentile
30 inches - 51th percentile

When the doctor walked in and asked how the little fella was doing and saw me reach for my piece of paper - he sat down. lol.

1st - The recent extreme discomfort while eating & drinking. He's been crying every time he eats or drinks & is having painful internal burps. Docs opinion: His reflux has flared up again. Teething & the stomach bug he had just recently may have contributed to this. Gave us a prescription for Zantac.

2nd - Bowel Movements. Always been an issue with Logan, continues to be an issue. We give him Miralax everyday. Docs opinion: If the Miralax is working, which it is...keep on giving it to him everyday. As he gets more mobile he thinks his bowel movements will become more regular and we can take him off the Miralax.

3rd - Lack of motor skills. He's doing the army crawl but thats it. I went from being able to check off all the developmental boxes at each of his "well visits" to not being able to check any. Docs opinion: He is now a bit concerned with his motor skills. He said normally he would just send us to a Birth to 3yr old specialist who would evaluate and follow his development but because Logan does have dialated brain ventricles he would like him evaluated by a nuerologist.

Thats that. Doc will call us next week with an appointment date & time for the nuerologist.

Gray

Feeling a bit dreary & in a funk recently. Looking for things to flip me around....might be MIA for a few days.
