Happy Birthday!!!

Quite a labor & delivery story!

3am Sunday morning: I was awoken with some mild contractions & woke Kevin up to let him know what was going on. We both stayed in bed and tried to rest. I think Kevin fell back to sleep pretty instantly however my mind was going a mile a minute.
5am Sunday morning: Once again I woke Kevin up to tell him the contractions were still coming and that I was going to get up and try to walk around. He suggested remaining in bed to time them. So that's what we did. At 5am they were around 30secs each coming every 7-10mins. Very manageable pain.
6am - Got hospital bags together, cleaned & went for a walk
10am - 30-35secs every 6-8mins - Went to Wal-Mart to do some grocery shopping
12:00- 40 - 45secs every 6mins - Home, went for another walk ...had lunch
2:30pm - 40-50secs every 4-6mins - Decided to keep our appt. with the realtor to see 3 houses.
5:30pm - 50-60secs every 3-5mins - Relatively moderate pain. Couldn't talk & walking was becoming difficult
6:00pm Departed for hospital - Game time! Ride was a little uncomfortable - but I was excited.
7:00pm Made it up to triage to check to see if I was dilated and in real labor
7:45pm 2-3cm dilated :/
8:00pm Was told to go downstairs to walk around till 10:30 at which point they would check my dilation again
9-10pm Walking (shuffling my feet behind the wheel chair) Crumbling over, unbelievable pain. Couldn't walk, talk, see, pain was immense.
10:10pm Told Kevin we had to go back upstairs that I thought something was coming out of me
10:15pm Longest 5mins of my life. Everyone we passed in that hospital knew I was in labor...I was screammming
10:17pm Kevin & I received an escort to help get us back to triage quicker
10:20pm After I screamed "Somebody help me, something is coming out of me!" The Security officer said into his walkie talkie "code 526, code 526"
10:21pm Back to triage in our room, still in wheelchair. The nurse is trying to calm me. I'm trying to slap her. I shout that something is coming out of me. She asks if it's fluid (ie: my water breaking) I tell her no it's the baby
10:22pm Nurse rips my pants off and calmly says to Kevin "Dad, I'm going to need you to press the red button"
10:22.30pm One doctor ran in - Doctor and nurse held my feet up & told me to push. Kevin still behind me pulling my hair back
10:25pm Three half hearted exhausted, painful pushes...
10:26pm Logan in my arms

baby!

We delivered Logan Beckett Hawk at 10:26 in triage, in a wheel chair with my tennis shoes & socks on :)
Nothin' like a good entrance into the world. Baby Logan is doing well - we are awaiting an MRI and an ultrasound of his brain so he is in the high risk nursery for now but we visit often. He looks absolutely perfect. See for yourself :)
