Moondance

Erin sent me a link Friday morning while I was at work. The link was an article about the biggest and brightest full moon of 2010. Several studies have been conducted trying to link full moon phases to giving birth, so what better shot did we have than this? The fullest and brightest full moon of the year just happened to fall on our due date. The temperatures plummeted to the coldest Connecticut has seen since February last year, 6 degrees!! That didn't take into account the subtle but present seabreeze. We weren't about to let this ruin our chances, so out we went, Dylan and all. We decided to walk to the beach, down the pier and get as close as we could to the moon's gravity. We did a dance and skipped our way home. We didn't end up going into labor, but Erin is laying down resting right now so I think our time is very near. Our moondance may have worked after all?? We're ready for you Logan Beckett Hawk.

Due Date

January 29, 2010
High possibility that today will come & go and we will be without child. I suppose thats ok - Kevin is taking a half day at work and we are going around with our realator to look at the insides of some nests. I told Kevin if I go into labor while at one of the houses we would buy that house - haha.
We've got the full moon on our side tomorrow night.....

Mommyhood dilemma #1

I called this afternoon to make an appointment for February 12th to get my hair cut & highlighted as a birthday treat for myself. Nothin difficult. Cut and partial highlights with Crystal - 1pm? Sounds perfect. It wasn't until after I got off the phone that I realized - wait a minute?!! 1pm on Friday ...Kevin will be at work & baby will be here - now who on earth is going to watch baby while I'm sitting in the chair getting beautiful.

This is where life with a dog and life with a baby differ.

I obviously didn't think this through. However, I also just realized that most likely my parents will be in town and I don't think I would have to pull their arms tooooo hard to have them watch Logan.

Who knows if I'll even want to leave Logan for 2hrs to get my hair done - I have a feeling my priorities might change just a wee bit once he arrives. We'll see.

Still waiting....just sleeping & sitting to pass the time. Where are you baby?

39 weeks!

me cookin the eggplant parm !

Dear Baby Logan,

Friday of this week is your due date. And, just in case you were wondering this isn't the type of event that you arrive for fashionably late. Punctuality is appreciated - early arrivals are rewarded. I know I've provided luxurious housing for you for the last 9 months but we have loads of soft blankets, delicious food and soothing noises for you to continue your life here on the outside. I promise you won't be disappointed. Besides, the longer you stay in there the closer our birthdays will get & I have your Dad convinced that I receive an entire month long birthday celebration. You being born in February would definitely make him reconsider.

Excited to love you on the outside,
Mommy, Daddy & Dilly

Ate hot wings 6:30pm Friday & Eggplant Parmesan 6:30pm Saturday. It's 9:30am Sunday...still no sign of baby - humph :/

Wives Tales

We've been working on all the wives tales that are out there to help this baby decide to make his way out. Tonight we're going to Hot Rods to get some more spicy hot wings & then tomorrow we're trying a new recipe that almost claims to be a guarantee...

Eggplant Parmesan

48 hours is the magic time window for the eggplant. Check back then....

Map of the Future

This is an invitation to an amazing future & I can guarantee it because most futures are
-Story People

If we could, we would buy a large plot of land somewhere temperate yet seasonal and then plop up a batch of houses all connected by a giant pool running through the backyards. Then we would hand pick all who would occupy those houses and there would be lots of backyard BBQs & there would be no good reason to ever leave our cul-de-sac of friends & family. But I suppose there is such a thing as too much of a good thing.

Kevin & I have decided to pursue buying a house in CT!!! We've been talking of settling down and buying a house for the last couple years and the talk always led us south of CT - North Carolina, Texas.... But turns out sometimes the best things are right under your nose.

We're just getting our feet wet with everything but our lease here in the cottage ends come June 15th so the goal is to have somewhere to call home by then. On Saturday we sat for 3hours with a Realtor and yesterday we sat for 2hrs with the money people.

Both of us have moved into different rentals just about every year for the last 9 years & when we got married we didn't open any of our wedding gifts because we wanted to save all the fun, sparkly, new things for our home. So to think that in the next few months we'll be able to call somewhere home, paint walls & open our wedding gifts makes me smile.

We'll be far away from family and some friends but thats what vacations and holidays are for. All you southeners need somewhere snowy & cold to visit on Christmas ;)

YAY for the first steps of a new chapter....

38 weeks!

Inching closer we are!

Today, January 18th is actually my due date if you plug in the numbers into the due date calculators online based off the first day of your last missed period. BUT so far, there's nothing different about today. Good news about today is: regardless there are only a mere 11 days till Logans "real" due date. Thats nothin!!

Sorry for the lack of bare belly pic this week - as promised I have gone without jeans and wore dresses & pjs all weekend :) I felt a little better about myself with the dress than with the pjs sooo the dress picture is what you get.

I wore this dress for our dinner rehearsal at our wedding a little more than a year ago...amazing what a year can do and the beauty of the stretchy jersey knit material ;)

37 weeks!

We're full term!!!!

That being said I seriously need to get it out of my head that this baby is coming any earlier than his due date of January 29th. I've had a wonderful pregnancy and I would hate for my impatience to interfere with that in any way.
Since last week we've gone and had our carseats checked out to make sure they are installed correctly and we went to Yale for our Hospital tour. The tour was good - made me excited. Kevin & I definitely asked the most questions throughout the tour...I think everyone else was happy we were there to ask the questions they weren't ;)
As far as how I'm feeling - still sleeping well although I get pretty warm at night and the air seems so dry that I have to wake up and gulp water which in turn leads to more midnight trips to the loo. eh. Despite my personal New Years Resolution to cut back on the sweets I've taken a new love to Blowpops and Grahm Crackers dipped in milk. I suppose thats better than eating a tub of Ben & Jerrys. I also think I've sworn off jeans - normal, stretchy, maternity - whatever the variety I'm not happy in them anymore. So if you're one of the lucky few that get to see me before Logan arrives I'll most likely be in pjs, yoga pants or a dress. I've noticed some cramping and I've been getting some pretty decent pains & braxton hicks contractions when I take Dylan on walks....all signs that my body is prepping for it's most extreme adventure yet.

Face is looking chubs :/ might have to look up how these stars use bronzer to contour their face...haha. That might do more harm than good.

D day: T minus 17 days. We CAN make it.

Escape

I sent an email to Erin (E2) this morning telling her that I had a nervous tummy & was slightly starting to freak out a bit about my impending life changes. I asked her to distract me with whats going on in her life. She writes:

Today I'm putting the finishing touches on my latest charity event to be held this evening to benefit African refugees. My Oscar de la Renta gown is being steamed this afternoon and my diamonds on loan from Harry Winston are arriving any minute, accompanied by their own security detail. I have a brief phone conference this morning with my editor and publisher about the release of my second book, which I'm very excited about. The touring and traveling is my favorite part of the process. The only downside being that I will have to take a break from the charity work I enjoy so much. I may be ready for a hiatus after tonight's event. I have to admit it has been a stressful 6 months of planning, but I believe we will reach our 5 million dollar goal! Brad and Angelina have graciously committed to matching our fundraising efforts and will present a check to me onstage at the close of tonight's event. It will undoubtedly be a success. And tomorrow I'm off to St. Croix for three weeks vacation with the love of my life (and the most gorgeous man I have ever laid eyes on). It turns out you can be independently wealthy, an underwear model and be genetically incapable of lying/cheating! I had to send my swimsuits off to be tailored since recently becoming aware that I'm now a size 4, but they will arrive with the rest of our luggage on the yacht shortly before we do. See you at the charity event tonight, and I'm so looking forward to spending more time with you at the dinner party at my NYC condo in 2 weeks!

Better? Reality is a state of mind...haha.

Definitely feeling better after that little escape - think I'll go put this nervous energy to good use.

Yesterday I had my 3rd new patient appointment (?!) & another ultrasound at Yale. Baby continues to look good & is GROWING!!! All his measurements are putting him at 6lbs 9oz - holy cow. I was 6lbs 7oz and Kevin was a flat 7lbs - I was kinda hoping he'd take after us and be a small baby. That being said .... go ahead and come whenever Logan, we're ready. Doc. said no need for anymore ultrasounds he's getting so big that its difficult to get the measurements of his ventricles any more.

We received paperwork that informs us who to call and where to go when we go into labor - helpful. And we were given a shortened version of what will most likely happen after baby is born. Sounds like they'll take a sample of his blood and he will be given an MRI & ultrasound of his brain to hopefully determine the cause to why his ventricles are dilated. Not ideal - but its gonna happen so we'll have to make the best of our birthing experience and know that its whats best for baby.

I've definitely started over analyzing movements and all my aches and pains as potential labor beginning. They say I'll know when it's time - I'm not so sure. I'm continuing to eat so much more food now than I have been able to all pregnancy & my sweet tooth is still kickin. Although, one of my personal side New Years resolutions was not to buy sweets to bring into the house. Not completely eliminate them but no more buying my Lindor chocolate balls, no more buying brownie mix to make a batch, no more blow pops.....baby has had enough. Mommy has had enough (maybe?)

The next 2 weeks we have quite a few appointments - stay tuned :)

2010!!

crazy cats on New Years Eve!

Despite the blue moon, the spicy wings I ate & my secretly wanting to go into labor on New Years Eve in order to have the first baby of 2010 - we made it through 2009 baby free! We've now entered our birth month - HOLY COW!
2010 already has huge potential to be an amazing year for us so we're anxiously looking forward to what lay ahead.

Resolutions
Adapt to our new roles as parents
Cut back on cursing
Write more reviews on products & places we go

Short, sweet & hopefully attainable :)
