Today was Logan's ARD (Admission, Review & Dismissal) meeting at Birnham Woods Elementary School. Technically Logan is a transfer student so there should have been nothing to nervous about - but we had such a good experience in CT that I was nervous about a new experience.
Turns out there was nothing to worry about :)
Everyone thought Logan was supercute & they are excited to have him in the school. They were friendly & helpful. We left having a great first impression of the school & the staff.
Whew.
He will be enrolled in PPCD (Preschool Program for Children with Disabilities). Unlike his Lisbon, CT school, he will be in a classroom with only Special Needs children. The classroom is set up to help kiddos like Logan succeed -there will be one teacher & two assistants. He will receive Physical, Occupational and Speech Therapy. He will ride a bus that will pick him up at our door, put him in a carseat & get him to school by 7:45 - then seat him up again for the ride home at 10:45, Monday-Friday.
In 30 days, after his teachers/therapist have a chance to get to know him we will review & re-evaluate his IEP (Individualized Education Program) & adjust depending on his needs.
I have a feeling Logan will shine and be a super charmer. I'm excited to see him be excited for school again :)
He could potentially start with the rest of the school on Monday :o As in today is Thursday then Friday then the weekend and then his 1st day of school!!!!
I think it is a delightful thing that Logan & Daddy just happened to wear the same outfit and then come to find out Navy Blue and Khaki are the Birnham Woods Bulldogs school colors. :)
I'm so happy that this meeting happened and went as well as it did. Second to buying a house, getting Logan situated with school was a high stressER for us moving to Texas. Done & Done. Good things are beginning.
