Obsession
My obsession with muffins & chocolate continues. The craving for muffins really kicked into full gear in the last month of pregnancy and well the hankering for chocolate has pretty much been there for the last 11months. So you can imagine my delight when Kevin brought home a chocolate muffin for my birthday breakfast :) BRILLIANT! I now mass produce them .....
So much for my New Years Resolution to wean myself off of chocolate and sweets...eh

Carpet Picnic
Although Logan hasn't quite figured out his schedule of naps and awake time during the day - he has, on a pretty regular basis, had a really happy awake time in the morning. So we normally set up shop for a carpet picnic in the warmest spot in our house - in front of the fire. Logan grabs his boppy and blankets and Mommy grabs the laptop, camera, coffee, water, and muffin (essentials for survival) and we hangout for a while on the floor.
Not sure what it is about this pic. of Logan but I love it. I feel like I can see a little bit of me & a little bit of Kevin in him...perhaps thats why I like it.

Mister 3weeks!!
Hi everyone!
At 3weeks I can:
Eat : every 2-3hrs during the day and every 3-4hrs at night
Sleep: Mom & Dad haven't figured out my daytime naps but I sleep well at night. I can tell Mom thinks I'm going to sleep through the night soon....we'll see, I kinda like cuddling with her in the middle of the night.
Poo: I have a lot of what Mom & Dad call "juicy farts". Feels soooo good.
Cry: I cry when I want for however long I feel like it. Nothing anyone can do about that right now. I just miss being in Moms belly, I'll get use to it out here soon.
I do enjoy a nice warm bath, sitting in front of the fireplace with no clothes on & riding in the baby bjorn with Dad. I absolutely hate having my diaper changed - but I'll give Mom & Dad credit for the wipe warmer they bought...a warm wipe is better than a cold wipe for sure.
For 3weeks new if you think this list is impressive - you just wait. Dad thinks I'm going to be brilliant. Just like him :)

Playing house
So far being a mom has been relatively smooth sailing (knock on wood) I'm only having to get up to feed once maybe twice in the middle of the night - which from what I hear makes me pretty lucky. I've showered often, gotten out of my pjs everyday, cleaned & cooked. Life goes on after baby.
Yesterday we had a bit of an off/rough day. Logan was unhappy for whatever reason and did his "I can't even breathe I'm crying so loud and hard" cry for a good portion of the day. I kept wanting to say to him "Logan, use your words" but alas all he knows to do is cry. I can't wait till he can communicate...when do babies start talking these days? I fear we have a ways to go. Until then I hope my patience grows a thicker skin.
I feel completely back to normal sans the larger boobs and softer tummy. But back to my normal clothes, back to being able to give Kevin a good, close hug and back to tying my shoes with ease. Weird to think how drastically life - both physically and emotionally -can change in just 2 short weeks.

Mommyhood frustrations:
When he crys so loud and hard and I can't figure out why
Trying to put his floppy, tiny arms through the teeny, tiny onesie arm holes
Why doesn't he like it when we change his diaper?
Getting places on time

Not being able to take Dylan on walks - Logan hasn't quite taken to the cold air
Make'in it all worth while:
Being a Mommy
When he is awake and taking the world in
When Dylan gives him kisses
Watching him sleep
His grunts and all his noises
Watching Kevin with him
His baby smell & soft skin

Big Boy
Kevins paternity leave is up :/ I told him that I would keep having babies just so we can have an extra 2weeks of vacation together. He left for work this morning and aside from feeling a little more tired our morning went exactly how it did before baby came...nice to have some familiarity mixed in to all this new'ness. We decided over the last 2weeks that when Kevin went back to work we would put Logan in his crib, in his room and use the monitors :o Last night was his first night all by his lonesome. He did really well :) I'm thankful that he never wakes up wailing he just starts grunting progressively louder. He woke up every 4hrs to feed & needed a little extra lovin at his 4:30am feeding before he was ok with me putting him back in his crib - but other than that he's still sleeping - only a couple grunts every once in awhile.

Happy Birthday!
to me :)
Not sure any gift could top having Logan here & healthy but thank you to everyone who sent cards, texts & gifts :)
I've had a wonderful birthday - one of the best. Got up at 10am, ate wings from Hot Rods, had two glasses of wine, in pjs at 8pm & now being a lump on the couch with my three loves. What else could I want.

Tummy Time Troubles
You try being plopped on your tummy without any neck muscles and no clue how to use your arms or legs and see what kind of look crawls across your face.

Squeaky Clean
Dylan never sits in the bathroom....
Looks like Mom should consider a bath (yikes! focus on the baby, focus on the baby)

Logan's cord fell off yesterday which means....BATHTIME!!! He definitely enjoyed soaking his bum in the warm water so much better than the chilly sponge bath we gave him the other day. Had a bit of an ''accident" immediately after being removed from the water in the form of projectile poo....annnnd we're back to the bathtub.
Guess he was pretty relaxed :)

Wide Awake
Everyday Logan is staying awake and is a little more alert than the day before. This morning he was awake & happy laying on his mat for almost 2hours!
Big Bro
Dylan tried his hardest this morning to squeeze into the little space that lay between me and Logan on his mat....he did a pretty good job
I think they'll be best buds :)

Are you ready for some football?!!
Although Logan hasn't chosen his favorite Superbowl team, or even known what the Superbowl is, he is prepared to show his love of the game with today's outfit. The commercials may elude him, the cheerleaders may be ignored, the cheering or booing may be confusing, but at least he'll get a little flavor of some Superbowl wings indirectly from Mom!
Fingers are crossed
Logan, Kevin & I made an offer on a house yesterday! We should find out by Monday...
Cruisin
Our first ride with a real baby in the stroller!! Not ideal weather conditions - below 30 temps and 40mph winds ...but if this baby is going to grow up in CT he's gotta get use to it. I imagine the way we had him bundled up he probably never even noticed he went outside.

And the winner is.....
Jenn Marshall
Whoop Whoop!!!
Her guess of
January 31st, 5:46pm
6lbs 4oz
20inches
was pretty bang on. Anticipate your reward in the mail....
1st Outing
We came out of hibernation yesterday and SURVIVED :)
Things we learned:
Don't forget the bottle of pumped milk at home
Tack an additional 15-20mins on to expected departure time to account for getting Logan ready
Baby carrier on cart + Asphalt = very bumpy ride for Logan
Don't try to cram in 3 stores in one outing

Hawk Family
Logan is napping right now so Dylan hasn't really seemed to take too much notice to our new addition....anxious to here those first cries and see what Dylan thinks.
Our family is complete.
Grandma Jo!
Grandma Jo gets to visit all of us for the next week. Logan is eating up the extra attention and Kevin & I are eating up the yummy, non-hospital food she has been making :)

Grandma & Grandpa
We were lucky to be able to share our immediate joy with my parents who drove in to visit us at the hospital the day after Logan was born. It was a short visit - but it meant the world to be able to celebrate with others. I think they'll be back ;)
Discharged!
After a little bit of persistence & good test results we were released from the hospital yesterday evening.
