Neurologist appointment

In the waiting room at the doctors

Logan had his appointment with the neurologist this morning. The first part was spent going through Logans history and our concerns, 2nd part was a physical examination by the Doc herself. What was determined was that Logan has the following:

1. Hypotonia
2. A mild lazy left eye

We are being recommended to both a birth to 3 specialist for physical therapy and an eye doctor. The doctor also recommended doing a full MRI (the 3 MRIs Logan has had so far have been just quick brain scans) a full MRI would show in much greater detail his entire brain. Logan would need to be sedated for it and the results wouldn't change any course of action for us or him so Kevin and I are leaning towards not getting it done - at least not anytime soon.

The doc. said his eye is a result of the low muscle tone and although she didn't say it outright I imagine the low muscle tone is the cause for his bowel problems too....there are a ton of muscles in your body folks not just those biceps!

Still don't know if Logans Ventriculomegaly is the root of all of this and maybe we'll never know. Best we can do is help where we can, which we do - lots. And give him love, kisses and support which he gets lots of :)

He is a loved and adorable happy little ham and to us that's whats most important.

  1. Well, I don't know what Hypotonia is, but I can tell you that I too had a mild lazy eye when I was a baby. I did have surgery on it when I was around 1, and though I remember wearing some patches on one eye at a time (to strengthen the muscles of the other eye) on and off through my preschool years, my eyes are completely fine now! Come to think of it, both my mom and cousin also had that same surgery, and they're fine too. I also have heard that wearing the patch alone can help the lazy eye. Not sure if that's any help to you, or just a rather long-winded story I opted to tell.
Regardless, Logan is a total cutie!
