Kindergarten

Here he is on the first day of Kindergarten:

& here is the down-low on low-down

He is in a Life Skills program at a new school Kauffman Elementary (previous school doesn't offer Life Skills).  He is one of three kids in his class - a girl his age & an older boy.  He has Ms. Mildren as a teacher and an aide in his class.  The bus picks him up at our driveway at 7:30am and drops him off at our driveway at 3:45pm.

They work on typical Kindergarten things (ABC's, numbers, sorting etc...) but also work on life skills (potty training, dressing, social skills etc...) Everything is very individualized. He is mixed in with the mainstream Kindergarten classes (with an aide) during lunch, recess, and specials (art, PE, music etc...).

It's Friday now.  He is beyond tired when he gets home.  He walks in and it's shouty Logan until he goes to bed :/  It's kinda awful.  I guess we expected it some -it's a huge adjustment for him. I was foolish to think it would go smoother.  He literally could be put to bed as soon as he walks in the door.

His teacher has called to let me know that they have started potty training with him and he has had 3 successes in the potty!!!!!  She says he's doing "ok" - he has trouble focusing, sitting still & listening - he is loud.

Welcome to my world teach.

It's strange listening to the teacher talk to me about things she is figuring out about Logan.  Someone else is living my world now.  I'm happy to pass on the torch to someone else.  New ideas, new routines, new rules....another mind to help figure this little mind out.

Anywho.  Thats the first week.  It's been strange at home without him.  His energy is missing.  It's quiet.  The days move very slowly.  We still have at least 2 extras here that I'm watching along with Reagan....but it's SO different.  It's the new norm & I'm still getting use to it.  He's still getting use to it.  We're still getting use to it.

We'll get it figured out and then it will be Thanksgiving break - lol.  That's usually how these things go down ;)

A throw-back to simpler times

2009.  We lived in England.  There were no babies, yet.

I can't even fathom what it would be like to have everything crossed off the to-do list -so much so- that the only thing left to do is a puzzle.  In the middle of the afternoon.

Craving a get-away with m'love.  Like one where we decide to waste the day away and not do a thing.  Just veg & watch movies and put a puzzle together.

Anniversary Boat Ride

Mom & Tom's Anniversary.

The perfect occasion to spend 4 hours on Lake Conroe with family, 2 bottles of champagne & 30 beers.

Let the good times roll.

Blue Lagoon

A beautiful success this time around :)

Master Bath Makeover

It's still a work in progress but I've been meaning to post pictures of our master bathroom makeover. I think we would have loved to gut it and totally re-do it but that costs a lot of money so instead we did a face lift.  We found a picture of a bathroom we liked & then made a list

Picture:

List:

  • paint the walls (I don't have a picture of the paint color before but it was a deep brown ugly color.)
  • cabinet hardware
  • frame the mirror
  • paint the cabinets
  • add middle shelf where vanity stool would go
  • remove closet door
  • remove bathroom door
  • add barn door to slide between bathroom and closet
  • art for over bathtub
  • new light fixtures
  • new accessories
  • toilet room shelves

Result:

We are happy so far :)  We did it all ourselves and the cabinets were completely painted and striped & sanded twice! before we were happy with the outcome.  The last few things on our list will make a big difference but realistically those won't be done for another few months (or more).

Foto Friday

It's always around this time of the summer that I wonder how we survive the rest of the year without going to the pool.  We have done a LOT of swimming this year!

The Brown Lagoon

Andrea (Winston & Birdies Moma) caught wind that I was looking to spruce up my "last" week of summer so she suggested we pack the kiddos up and check out the Blue Lagoon.

Turns out the Blue Lagoon is so super cool that they limit the number of people allowed in. So, despite us getting there shortly after opening we got turned away :/  There we were an hour away from home with 4 kids in swimsuits looking forward to an awesome day of swimming.

Onto Plan B:

Huntsville State park - which I've nicknamed The Brown Lagoon ;) - a nearby park with a swimming hole.

Let us not forget the educational detour because we got lost.

We made it :)

We have rescheduled another attempt at the Blue Lagoon for next week.....

In bed before the sun

This past was my slowest week with extras this summer (aside from our vacation when I had none) & I get busy again starting next week.  Sooo I tried to spruce things up for my kiddos....those pictures are coming! Until then - these are the pics from today, Saturday after a big week. Saturday after back to back birthday parties.  They were in bed before the sunshine today - this is them minutes before their heads hit their pillows.
